Dr. Ganesh Thiagarajan Joins the NCSA CSM Group

Dr. Tom Prudhomme, Senior Associate Director of NCSA's External Programs Division, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Ganesh Thiagarajan to the Computational Structural/Solid Mechanics (CSM) Group as postdoctoral research associate, effective January 1, 2001.

Dr. Thiagarajan comes to NCSA from Louisiana State University where he has held the positions of instructor and professional-in-residence with the Civil and Environmental Engineering departments. He obtained his Ph. D. in civil engineering and applied mechanics from LSU in 1996. The title of his thesis, A cyclic plasticity model with damage characterization for metal matrix composites, reflects his interest in material failure problems. He has also published a number of research papers in various archival journals and conference proceedings.

Ganesh will be working on PET-related impact and penetration models with K. Jimmy Hsia, associate professor of theoretical and applied mechanics and PET CSM senior academic lead for the Army Research Laboratory Major Shared Resource Center located in Aberdeen, Maryland.
